smelling like a...

got to start the rose bowl banter:

from a dallas paper:

Maybe this bodes well for Texas; maybe it doesn't.

But against what we in these parts know is a very flawed Oklahoma team, Oregon looked mighty mighty average in the Sooners' 17-14 Holiday Bowl win.

Remember these are the sixth-ranked Ducks from the great Pac-10, another team that got unfairly held out of a BCS game. Kind of like Cal last year which, oh, by the way got crushed by Texas Tech in that Holiday Bowl.

===

oh, and the so-called "weak" big 12 is now 4-1 in bowl games...including wins over the pac-10 and big-10 "powerhouse" michigan.

eye candy

part of me wishes todd weren't a part of our wedding, so he could take photos for us....

geekdom

i think i shall never cease to be a geek.
just spent a couple of hours trying to figure out how to put a music player up on our wedding page.

if only i could put this energy towards learning more about how to take care of my patients.

still, the snow cover never ceases. pretty sweet.

tis the season...

so, maybe there's something to heidi saying that people somehow feel obligated to send you a christmas card when you send them one...i' got more cards today than i did all of last year...

chance of a white christmas here is almost 100%. we didn't have one last year. too bad i'll be in texas. not that i'm complaining.

that's now 20 straight days of snow cover. crazy. (but cool).

i'm getting christmas shopping done way earlier than ever before this year. that is to say, i've actually bought gifts prior to dec 23rd this year.

not quite sure how i'm going to get them all down to texas, though.

more to come...

...12 days of snow cover and counting! it's sunny and warm today, but it looks like it'll hang around long enough for the big midweek storm coming through. kind of cool.

a great review of narnia here .

so, a prime example of way overdoing make-up was had on the survivor reunion show last night. is it just me, or did danni & stephanie just look, well, i dunno, plastic(?) under their 5 layers of make-up?

either way, the right person won.

heidi got me a lovely coat for my birthday, one i've been wanting for a while...yea ol' classic-style black coat.

...and counting

that's now day 6. it's actually kind of cool the snow sticks around this long.

highlights from the dallas paper that make me homesick:

#sub-freezing weather coming! north dallas braces for mix of ice/snow! residents and businesses gearing up for the worst! cold weather tips!

#thousands expected to be left out of state football semifinal tickets at stadium that only holds 12,500

#rangers still looking for pitching.

aaron sprinkle at it again.

sweet. aaron sprinkle is now fair forever.

just getting started...

by my count, that's now 5 days total with snowcover.
current temp: 0 degrees.
and it's only december 5th.
has winter even officially started yet?

verizonwireless finally has the razr phone after many months wait. yeah, i'm still a gadget freak.
but, seriously, it's super thin, and i'm tired of phones that are thicker than my wallet.

joined a fitness club tonight. i gave myself until 6 months prior to the wedding to join. i was 2 days late, but, eh, i did! just 30 minutes of hill work on the bike tonight. nothing big, but it's a start.

i'm also joining a v-ball team with some of the nurses at the clinic. should be interesting. my sisters would probably be laughing hysterically if they could read this.

having sat through an official "rank committee meeting" i'm surprised i'm on the one hand surprised i ever got accepted anywhere, and, on the other hand, wonder if i shouldn't have tried for that ophthalmology residency. my scores weren't all that bad in retrospect. that or our applicants scores aren't that great. my guess is the latter.

ok, need to get to bed so i can put 30 more minutes in reading narnia. don't think i'm going to make it by friday.

yeah, officially resurrecting the site.

i've been trying to use everything from movable type to xanga to b2evolution, and, while they are considerably more customizable and easier to backup, blogger is just way easier to use. i didn't know if it would still be around (and free) this long, but, seeing as it is, why not jump back in?

so, more to come...though i'm not advertising that this site is still around...at least not yet.
